The International Academy of Film and Television ( Spanish: Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión, EICTV ) is a film school founded in 1985 in San Antonio de los Baños, about 30 kilometers southeast of Havana, Cuba.

The EICTV is an independent non-governmental organization whose carrier is, Fundación del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano ( FNCL ) a foundation of the New Latin American Cinema, whose president is from the beginning until today, Gabriel García Márquez.

History

Decisive impetus was given the project of the Colombian writer and Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez. Was inaugurated the school on 15 December 1986. Their first director was the Argentine filmmaker Fernando Birri, one of the founders of the New Latin American Cinema. Current interim director since July 2013, the Cuban sound engineer Jerónimo Labrada.

Study

On the concept of film school heard that the instruction will be given by active filmmakers. In addition to regular classes, there are numerous workshops ( Taller ) on specific topics of film production. There are exchange programs to Germany with the Film Academy Baden -Württemberg and the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.
