Essam El-Hadary

Essam El Hadary - (Arabic عصام الحضري, DMG Assam ʿ al - Hadari, born January 15, 1973 in Damietta ) is an Egyptian football goalkeeper.

Career

Among the fans of El - Hadary is known for his muscular figure as " high dam ". In addition, El- Hadary is also called the " African Buffon ," which is to be regarded as a great honor. His professional career started in Damietta, in 1996, he moved to Al -Ahly Cairo. In spring 2008 he signed a contract with Swiss club FC Sion. Since 1997, he also plays for the Egyptian national team. He is regarded as one of the best African goalkeeper and was honored at the African Cup of Nations in 2006 as the best goalkeeper.

El- Hadary was Egypt's hero in a penalty shootout of the final match of the Africa Cup in 2006 against the Ivory Coast, where he held the penalty from Didier Drogba and Bakary Koné.

In February 2007, he was a second time for heroes by holding the penalty of Khaled Melliti and so the CAF Super Cup took for his club. Al -Ahly here defeated the Tunisian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel in Addis Ababa 5-4 on penalties after extra time ended 0-0.

This was the third CAF Super Cup, El- Hadary with his club was able to win. Known is his goal, which he scored against South African club Kaizer Chiefs from over 60 meters at the CAF Super Cup in 2002. This game ended 4-1 for Al -Ahly.

El- Hadarys exchange to Switzerland for FC Sion was accompanied in spring 2008 of a dispute between the two clubs.
