2006 FIFA Club World Cup
The FIFA Club World Cup 2006 (English: FIFA Club World Cup 2006) was the third edition of this international football competition for club teams and was held from December 10 to 17 again in Japan.

Compared to last year, there were no changes to the competition format. The tournament was again held with the winners of the six continental champions competitions at club level from Asia, Africa, CONCACAF, South America, Europe and Oceania in the knockout system. In eight days, seven games were held. The teams from Europe and South America were set back for the semi-finals and played only two games each. The other four teams determined in two quarter-finals the other two participants for the semi-finals.
Due to the change of the Australian Football Association of the OFC to AFC and therefore lower skill level of the OFC Club in early 2006 proposed a rule change. The winner of the OFC Champions Cup to play in a preliminary round against the Japanese master for a place in the quarterfinals. This amendment was initially rejected by the FIFA Executive Committee.

"adidas " Golden Ball
The "Golden Ball" for the best player of the tournament went to the Portuguese Deco from FC Barcelona. The "Silver Ball" went to the Brazilian Iarley from SC Internacional and the " Bronze Ball" with Ronaldinho from FC Barcelona to another Brazilian.
FIFA Fair Play Trophy
The Fair Play Award for athletic proper appearance on and off the turf was the FC Barcelona.
