Esau is a village in the West African state of Gambia.

According to a calculation for 2013 there live about 6640 inhabitants, the result of the last published census in 1993 amounted to 4486th

Geography

The place is located in the North Bank Region, District Lower Niumi at the mouth of the River Gambia to the Atlantic Ocean, three kilometers east of Barra.

South of Essau is the Kang Point.

History

Until the 19th century, Esau was the royal city of Niumika. The Kingdom of the Niumi was with the British colonists in Barra in the conflict, it was because the Barra - war.

Attractions

In about seven kilometers west lies the sacred crocodile pool of Berending.
