Estadio Altamira

The Estadio Altamira, formerly known as Deportivo Sur de Tamaulipas, is a football stadium in Altamira, Tamaulipas, which serves the Mexican football club Altamira FC as a home ground and can accommodate 13,500 visitors.

History

The initiative to build the stadium came from Enrique de Hita Yibale, who was also a driving force in the founding of the Altamira FC in the summer of 2001.

Construction began in January 2003 and nine months later, the stadium was officially opened on 19 October 2003 with the second division match between the hosts and the Club Acapulco. The first goal in the new stadium scored Carlos Alberto Rodríguez already in the fourth minute in a 1-0 victory for the home team.
