Étraire de la Dui

Étraire de la Dui is a red grape variety. It is cultivated in the French wine region Savoie. Approved it is in the department of Isère. In the appellation Vin de Savoie she is one of the approved secondary varieties. It was found for the first time near the Mas de l' adui at Saint- Ismier. The term Étraire refers to the elongated shape of the berries. It is believed that it is this variety is an open withered seedling of the variety Persan since at least the berry shape is strikingly similar.

Étraire de la Dui was before and even during the phylloxera crisis in the 19th century an important grape variety, but was later barely connect to the earlier successes. The area under vines went from almost 400 hectares in 1958 to only 4 acres back in 1988.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics
