Wavy Schopf Lily ( Eucomis autumnalis )

The Wavy Schopf Lily ( Eucomis autumnalis ) is a species of the genus Schopf Lilies ( Eucomis ) in the family of asparagus plants ( Asparagaceae ). This species is very rich in form, there are three subspecies distinguished.

Features

The Wavy Schopf lily is a perennial herbaceous bulbous plant, the plant height 15-30 (45 ) reaches centimeters. The leaves 1.5 to 13 centimeters wide and usually ovate-lanceolate, rarely ovate. Its edge is wavy. There are 10 to 45 bracts present. The flower cluster has a length of 5 to 15 centimeters. The Perigonzipfel and the ovary are green.

The flowering period extends from July to August.

Occurrence

The Wavy Schopf lily is found in Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. It grows on damp, rocky grasslands.

Use

The Wavy Schopf lily is rarely used as an ornamental plant in rebates. The species is in cultivation since at least 1760.
