Eugen Scotoni

Eugen Scotoni ( born July 29, 1873 in Vienna, † May 29, 1961 ) was a Swiss entrepreneur in the construction and film industry.

Eugen Scotoni came from an Austrian family builders who settled in 1889 in Zurich. He worked in his parents' and founded in 1893 his own company. Through the construction of cinemas he managed to step into the movie business. So the Apollo Cinema Cinerama in Zurich as well as the Metropolis cinema in Zurich and Lausanne belonged to his company. From 1931 to 1935 he controlled with the Terra Film AG in Berlin, one of the largest film production companies of the German Empire.

Eugen Scotoni was married to Angelina Gassmann ( 1877-1953 ). The couple had eight children, of whom worked Ralph Scotoni and Anton Eric Scotoni for the company of her father. Eugen Scotoni was naturalized in 1906 in Zurich. The family seat was completed in 1915, Villa in Zurich - Oerlikon.
