European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Euro
The Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs is a member of the European Commission. He is responsible for the coordination of the economic policies of the Member States, such stimulus programs, responsible and therefore plays a key role in the Commission. The function of economic Commissioner has existed since establishing the European Economic Community in 1958. Since the early aspirations for a European Monetary Union in the early 1970s and this is the responsibility of the department. Partly also Financial Programming and Budget was connected to the business section.
Current office-holders in the Barroso II Commission since 2010 is Olli Rehn.
