European Republicans Movement

The Movimento Repubblicani Europei (movement of European Republican) was a small liberal party in Italy. They had split off in 2001 by the traditional PRI, because this had the coalition Casa delle Libertà connected to Silvio Berlusconi. The Movimento Repubblicani Europei belonged to a party of the center-left to left electoral alliances The Olive and L' Unione.

The party saw its historical roots in the work of famous Italian democratic republicans such as Giuseppe Mazzini, and Ugo La Malfa.

The chairman of the party, Luciana Sbarbati was elected to the European Parliament as the sole representative of their party in 2004.

On 14 October 2007, the party went on in the Democratic Party ( Partito Democratico ) with the national leadership of the Left, the Christian Democrats of La Margherita and six other groupings of the center-left camp.
