European Table Tennis Union

The European Table Tennis Union (ETTU ) (European Table Tennis Association ) was founded on 13 March 1957. It has the task of organizing table tennis tournaments on the European level. The seat of the ETTU water is cheap in Luxembourg.

Motif

The idea for a ETTU came in 1956 in Tokyo. A year later, the International Table Tennis Federation ITTF decided the World Table Tennis Championships to be performed only once every two years. Therefore, one could still hold a championship in the " intervening years ".

Founding members in 1957 were the countries of Belgium, the Federal Republic of Germany, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, German Democratic Republic, Finland, France, Yugoslavia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the Soviet Union, Hungary and Wales. Its first president was Jean Bélot (France). At that Board was also Jupp sleep ( Federal Republic of Germany ).

In 1958, the first European Championship was held in Budapest. When ETTU congress during Euro 1960, the organization was restructured. President, Vice President and a secretary form the management, which is supported by five assessors. Were elected:

In April 1990, Israel joined the ETTU in as a member.
