Nancy Evans (table tennis)

Nancy Evans ( * 1903, † July 28, 1998 in Cardiff ) was a leading table tennis players from Wales and a functionary.

Player

In the period before and after the Second World War, Nancy Evans was the strongest table tennis player from Wales. She won every single championship of Wales from 1935 to 1946, a total of six times. From 1940 to 1945 no championships were conducted in Wales. From 1935 to 1950 she took five times for Wales participated in the World Championships.

Functionary

In 1944, she assumed the office of the Secretary of the Table Tennis Association Of Wales ( Table Tennis Association of Wales Ltd. ). This office she held until 1989. At the foundation of the European Table Tennis Association ETTU she served on the first Board. From 1960 to 1984 she served as Secretary General ETTU.

In her honor, the Tournament of the European Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1984 was renamed ETTU Nancy Evans Cup.

Private

In 1933 she married Roy Evans, who later became President of the Table Tennis ITTF.
