European Volleyball Confederation

The Confédération Européenne de Volleyball ( CEV ) is the European umbrella organization of volleyball. The headquarters of the Association is located in Luxembourg.

Profile

The CEV was founded on October 21, 1963, but the sport had been many years before reaching Europe. At the Congress, which led to the founding of the World Federation FIVB, came 1947, the majority of participants of this continent.

With the long tradition of sport in Europe can be justified, which is used by the CEV and respect rivals the size and scope with the structure of the FIVB and the administrative structure. The CEV is the greatest of all Volleyball associations and organizes the most annual competitions and tournaments.

The CEV is the individual national associations superior and organizes continental competitions such as the prestigious European Championship (first 1948), the Champions League, CEV Cup, the Challenge Cup and the Europa League. She is also involved in the organization of qualifiers for the Olympic Games and World Championships as well as in international competitions, organized by member associations.

Member Associations

Europe is considered the strongest continent in volleyball. The CEV is usually more participants in international competitions than any other association.

Leading leagues in Europe are Russia and Italy. Added to Poland for men as well as Turkey and Azerbaijan among women. In Germany and France there are few teams that can compete in terms of performance here.
