Challenge Cup (Volleyball)

The Challenge Cup is the third highest European Cup competition for club teams in volleyball. Up to and including the 2006/07 season the competition was held under the name of CEV Cup and CEV Cup. Subsequently, the organizing European Association CEV changed the structure of the competitions.

Mode

Eligible are the teams that are placed in their national league behind the Champions League and CEV Cup participants. The exact number of starting places in the individual competitions results from a ranking of the CEV.

In the first two rounds occur 64 or 32 teams in the knock-out system with return game against each other. If there are different in the two games will decide the winner set ratio. If there is still a tie will be played immediately after the return match, an additional sentence to 15 points ( " golden set" ), which decides on a place in the next round. The 16 winners of the second round to take the teams that were eliminated in the first round of the CEV Cup. The winners play in the eighth and quarter -finals to the Final Four.
