Eusebio Pedroza

Eusebio Pedroza ( born March 2, 1953 in Panama City ) is a former Panamanian boxer.

Professional career

The tall southpaw Pedroza was 1973 professional bantamweight. His tenth battle he lost against the unbeaten and unknown Colombian Alfonso Perez kurzrundig by knockout. Through several victories against opponents of the extended world class but he received on 3 April 1976, the chance against the hard- hitting Mexican Alfonso Zamora in Mexico to fight for the world championship title of the WBA. But here he had no chance and went again KO, as well as in his next fight against the relatively unknown Venezuelan Oscar Arnal. His slave skills must therefore be described as below average.

From 1977 he boxed at featherweight. On April 15th 1978 he succeeded in winning the WBA title against Spaniard Cecilio Lastra. In 1979, he hit the aging superstar Rubén Olivares. The undefeated Rocky Lockridge he could defeat twice on points, more title defenses reach him, among other things against the eventual WBC titlist Juan LaPorte, Bernard Taylor, Royal Kobayashi and Jorge Lujan. Pedroza but never got one the best in the class, then for example, Salvador Sánchez Gómez Wilfredo or, in the prime of his skills before his fists, he was particularly impressed with Constance. So he scored in seven years 19 title defenses, a record at featherweight before the Northern Irishman Barry McGuigin defeated on June 8, 1985. For the fight against McGuigan he cashed with $ 1 million, a record exchange in this weight class.

Pedroza is the third best Panamanian boxer of all time, but has no superstar status as Roberto Durán and Panama Al Brown. In 1999, he was welcomed into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

• Pedroza is one of the dirtiest boxer boxing history and is known as Fritzie Zivic with in one breath. But he did not lose a significant fight by disqualification, even if it against LaPorte two points were deducted.
• The former title holder in junior bantamweight Rafael Pedroza is his cousin.
• After End of career, he worked as a civil servant in Panama and operates alongside a pig farm.
