Evarist Pinto

Evariste Pinto ( born December 31, 1933, Goa, India) is Emeritus Archbishop of Karachi.

Life

Evariste Pinto received his philosophical and theological formation at the seminary in Karachi. He received on 6 January 1968, the sacrament of Holy Orders and was subsequently awarded a doctorate from the Pontifical Urban University in Biblical Studies. At the Roman Bible Institute, he reached a Masters degree in Sacred Scripture.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Titular Bishop of Castra Severiana 2000 and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of Karachi. The episcopal ordination on 25 April 2000 gave him the Archbishop of Karachi, Simeon Anthony Pereira. Co-consecrators were Max John Rodrigues, Bishop of Hyderabad in Pakistan, and Andrew Francis, Bishop of Multan.
