Andrew Francis (bishop)

Andrew Francis ( born November 29, 1946 in Adah, Pakistan ) is Roman Catholic Bishop of Multan.

Life

Andrew Francis, a Punjabi, studied at Christ the King Seminary in Karachi and was ordained priest on 10 January 1972.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 3 December 1999 to the bishop of the Diocese of Multan in Pakistan's Punjab province. He received his episcopal consecration on 26 February 2000 in Lahore Archbishop Alessandro D' Errico, Apostolic Nuncio in Pakistan; Co-consecrators were Simeon Anthony Pereira, Archbishop of Karachi, and Joseph Coutts, Bishop of Faisalabad. His motto: Veni Creator Spiritus! ( "Come, Creator Spirit " ).

He is representative of the Pakistani Bishops' Conference for inter-religious and inter-religious dialogue and focuses on taking into account the approaching war in Afghanistan since 2001 for the reconciliation of Christians, Muslims and Hindus. And he has built over 40 schools, where children of all religions are taught and receive a daily meal.

Andrew Francis maintains numerous personal connections to Germany and Austria.
