Roman Catholic Diocese of Multan

The Diocese of Multan (Latin: Dioecesis Multanensis ) is a location in Pakistan Roman Catholic diocese based in Multan in Punjab province.

History

The Diocese of Multan was by Pope Pius XI. Founded in 1936 as Apostolic Prefecture of the Metropolitan Diocese Lahore. First prefect was the Italian Dominican Francesco Benedetto Cialeo OP. In 1939, the prefecture under the official leadership of Bishop Cialeo by Pope Pius XII. applicable to the present Diocese of Multan. In 1969, the Diocese of Lyallpur, now Faisalabad diocese, established in the territory of the Diocese of Multan out.

The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Multan Lahore.
