Everyone Deserves a Roof

E.D.A.R. ( Everyone Deserves A Roof ) is donated to the homeless a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, the mobile Sleeps. Each EDAR is a small cart on wheels, which can be like a tent open and then provides a small accommodation. Furthermore, the EDAR provides storage space for utensils and can be folded up during the day.

History

EDAR was founded by film producer Peter Samuelson, 2007. Samuelson came up with the idea after he spoke with the homeless in Los Angeles. The EDAR was designed by college students in a competition at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena ( California). Students Eric Lindeman and Jason Zasa designed the design and Samuelson had then build the EDAR of a shopping cart manufacturer. After about 9 prototypes, the first 60 EDAR units were distributed to the needy in Los Angeles in the summer of 2008. EDARs were also tested in Phoenix (Arizona ) and Camden (New Jersey).
