Ewen Cameron, Baron Cameron of Dillington

Ewen James Hanning Cameron, Baron Cameron of Dillington (* November 24, 1949 ) is a British landowner and Life Peer.

Life and career

Cameron attended the Harrow School and studied at Oxford University in Modern History ( history of modernity ).

He is since 1971 manager of the Dillington Estate in Somerset. From 1986 to 1987 he was High Sheriff of Somerset. He was the founder of the Orchard Media Ltd and from 1989 to 1999 whose Chairman ( Chairman ). Cameron was 1990-1991 President of the Somerset Federation of Young Farmers ' Clubs. From 1995 to 1997 he was national president of the Country Land and Business Association from 1997 to 2000 Member of the UK Government 's Round Table for Sustainable Development, the Sustainable Development Commission followed. From 1998 to 2006 he was Chairman ( Chairman ) of the Lets Go Travel Ltd. Membership in the House of Lords

Cameron was appointed Life peer as Baron Cameron of Dillington, of Dillington in the County of Somerset on 29 June 2004. The official introduction to the House of Lords took place on 7 September 2004. His inaugural address was delivered on 30 November 2004. He sits in the House of Lords as a cross Bencher.

When his political interests he calls EU Agriculture, Environment, Nature, Rural Affairs, Food and Agriculture in the Third World. As states of interest he calls the sub-Saharan African countries.

From 2005 to 2009 he was a member of the Agriculture and Environment Sub - Committee. After the general election in 2010 was Cameron ( Co - Chair ) of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Agriculture and Food for Development, along with the House of Representatives Tony Baldry.

Honors

He was Deputy Lieutenant of Somerset in 1989. Cameron was in 1992 a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, 1996 Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Societies of Great Britain, and also in 1996 at the Royal Society of Arts. In 2003 he became a Knight Bachelor.

In 2004 he was honored with an honorary doctorate Doctor of Law ( Hon LLD) from the University of Exeter.

Family

Cameron is the second son, but eldest surviving son of Allan Cameron ( born March 25, 1917 † 4 September 2011, the second son of Colonel Sir Donald Cameron of Lochiel Walter, KT, XXV Lochiel ) and his wife (Mary ) Elizabeth Vaughan -Lee (* November 28, 1915, † 10 December 2008), descended from a family which owned land in Somerset. Ewen Cameron is married and has three sons and a daughter.

He currently operates Dillington Park, the estate is more than 250 years of family ownership and of the derived part of his title. His younger sister Bride is married to Lord Donald Graham, the half brother of the current Duke of Montrose.
