Ewing Kauffman

Ewing Marion Kauffman ( born September 21, 1916 in Garden City, Missouri; † August 1, 1993 ) was an American entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Kauffman served as a soldier in the Navy during World War II. After the war he worked as a salesman for pharmaceutical companies. In 1950 he founded his own company " Marion Laboratories Inc.". 1989 merged the sales of USD 930 million achieved company with " Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals " to " Marion Merrell Dow ."

In 1960 he founded the " Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation," which will inter alia promote entrepreneurship. She was co-founder of the annual " Global Entrepreneurship Week ", which is also accompanied in Germany by the " Entrepreneurship Week Germany ".

The Kauffman Stadium, a baseball stadium in Kansas City is named after him and is home to the Kansas City Royals, a major league baseball team of the American League.
