Exeter Chiefs

The Exeter Chiefs are an English rugby union club that plays in the Aviva Premiership, the English Premier League.

History

The club was founded in 1871 and denied in 1873 the first game. In the early years, often changed the playing field and then took advantage of decades the County Ground, also on the cricket was played. Since the season 2006/ 07 the games in the Sandy Park are held.

Following the professionalisation of Rugby Union in England in the mid -1990s, the club sought to term the top division to belong. 1997 promotion to the second highest league, the then National Division One, in which the Chiefs were able to establish in the upper middle. In the seasons 2004/ 05, 2007/ 08 and 2008/ 09, the Chiefs missed as runner-up promotion to the Premiership, only approximately. This they finally succeeded in 2010. The previous best finish in the Premiership is the 5th place in the season 2011/12.
