Explorer Plate

The Explorer is a lithospheric plate in the Pacific Ocean off the west coast of Vancouver Iceland, Canada.

In the east it dives under the North American Plate. To the south is the Sovanco fault zone that separates the Explorer plate from the Pacific plate. In the southwest is another fault zone, the Nootka fault zone, which separates the Explorer plate from the Juan de Fuca plate. To the northwest is a separation zone that forms the Explorer ridge. The Explorer plate is one of the northern remnants of the Farallon plate.
