Eyüp Can (boxer)

Eyüp Can ( born August 3, 1964 in Konya ) is a retired Turkish boxer.

1984 Can won at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles after beating Bill Dunlop, Canada (5-0 ), Seiki Segawa, Japan ( 4:1), and Yong Mo Heo, South Korea (4:1), and a semi-final defeat against the future Olympic champion Steve McCrory, USA (5-0 ), the bronze medal in the flyweight (-51 kg). Two years later he won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Reno. Can lost in the semifinals to eventual WBA champion David Griman, Venezuela ( 3:2 ).

1986 Can was professional. After 8 wins, he lost in 1988 against former world champion Joey Olivo. In 1989 he won against the eventual WBO champion Pat Clinton the European title, which he defended only once, before he ended his career with a professional record of 15 wins in 16 fights.
