Eyvindr skáldaspillir

Eyvindr Skáldaspillir ( = the Skaldenverderber ) (actually Eyvindr Finsson; * to 920; † around 990 in Alstahaug ) was a Norwegian skald.

Life

His surname is attributed to the fact that he thereby damaged many Skalden that he plagiarized. He lived in Sandnes in Helgeland. Hákonarmál is the last great prince poem that has been handed down by a Norwegian. After Eyvind time it was the Icelanders who compacted the Fürstenlob.

After the death of Håkon the Good Eyvind came into sharp conflict with Gråfell Harald and his brothers. There are verses narrated from him in which he reduces the new rulers. His friends had to give the king, and he was the skald of the new King Harald Gráfeldr. It is about providing a single verse to Harald's praise of him, and there he praises him exclusively for his military prowess, for nothing else

His son was Harek from Tjøtta. This played in the time Olav Tryggvason and Olav Haraldsson I. an important role.
