The Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences ( short form Ostfalia until 2009 University of Applied Sciences Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel ) is a university established in 1971 in the eastern Lower Saxony. It has plants in Salzgitter ⊙ 52.0876510.37959, Wolfenbüttel (Campus A and B ⊙ ⊙ 52.176710.54793 52.1785810.55937 ), Wolfsburg ⊙ ⊙ 52.426110.78608 and Suderburg 52.8982810.44509.

History

Predecessor of the University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1928, the National Engineering School Wolfenbüttel, which joined forces in August 1971 with two other independent institutions, the University of Applied Sciences Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel. At Salzgitter 2004, the former Divisions F ( Media, Sport and Tourism Management ) and T ( Transportation and Traffic ) were merged to form the new faculty Karl Scharfenberg. September 1, 2009, it is named " Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences" ( according to the revived recently historic landscape designation Ostfalen ). In addition, in Suderburg founded the new faculty Trade and Social Work, which is currently under construction in summer 2010. The former Braunschweig with the Department of Social Work has been integrated in the winter semester 2010 in the Wolfenbüttel. With around 11,000 students enrolled, it is one of the largest universities in Lower Saxony. In high school rankings 2005 of job and business magazine career, the college ranked in engineering in Germany in 7th place.
