FactSet Research Systems is a US-based financial data and software company headquartered in Norwalk (Connecticut), USA. The company provides information and analytical tools for analysts, portfolio managers and investment bankers. It competes mainly with Bloomberg L.P. and Thomson Reuters.

History

FactSet was founded in 1978 by Howard Wille and Charles Snyder. The company initially focused on the integration of external data into portfolio management systems of banks and provided added value through intelligent filter criteria. In 2008, FactSet acquired the Worldscope database from Thomson Reuters, because this had to be removed because of the antitrust laws in connection with the takeover of Reuters by Thomson. Since 1996 the company listed on the New York Stock Exchange is listed.

Services and Products

FactSet offers a new platform that allows access to more than 800 databases from different vendors since 2009.
