Fala is a Romance language and represents a subset of the Galician - Portuguese language and is spoken in the municipalities of San Martín de Trevejo, Elias and Valverde del Fresno, in the Valle de Jalama in the northwest of the Spanish province of Cáceres, on the border with Portugal.

There are separate dialects in each of the mentioned municipalities. The number of speakers in the communities is estimated 10,000 speakers in 6000 to partly. In addition, assume linguist, that a close relationship exists to the Sabugal spoken language in Portugal.
