Falköping
Falköping is a town in the Swedish province of Västra Götaland County. It is located about 150 km northeast of Gothenburg on the railway line between Stockholm and Gothenburg. Falköping is also the capital of the municipality of the same name.
Falköping located in the historical area, Falbygden. A settlement can be proved in the 12th century, the city got Falköping rights at the earliest at the end of the 14th century. In the 16th century the city was almost abandoned and the three crown War ( 1563-1570 ) the city was burned down. She recovered only slowly away and had in 1800 no more than 450 inhabitants. Railway construction in the middle of the 19th century promoted the development of the city, as emanating from Falköping the connecting line between the main line between Stockholm and Gothenburg to the main line between Stockholm and Helsingborg.
