Fame - The road to fame is an American television series that aired in the U.S. from 1982 to 1987 in six seasons. In Germany, the ARD sent only 26 of the 39 episodes of the first and second season, the rest of the total of 136 episodes were never aired in Germany. The series was based on the eponymous 1980 produced the Oscar-winning film Fame - The path to glory which was directed by Alan Parker and in which the performer Allen, Hague, Ray and Curreri had already played the same roles.

Action

On the New York "High School Of Performing Arts ", the performing arts school, young artists learn the basics for a career in show business. The main characters of the series include the keyboardist Bruno Martelli (Lee Curreri ), the singer Coco Hernandez (Erica Gimpel ), the comedian Danny Amatullo (Carlo Imperato ), the actor Montgomery MacNeil (PR Paul ) and Doris Schwartz ( Valerie Landsburg ), the dancer Leroy Johnson (Gene Anthony Ray ) and the cellist Julie Miller ( Lori Singer).

Dance teacher Lydia Grant ( Debbie Allen), a music teacher Benjamin Shorofsky ( Albert Hague ), the strict English teacher Elizabeth Sherwood ( Carol Mayo Jenkins ) and drama teacher Gregory Crandall (Michael Thoma ) teach talented students.

The success of the series was based both in the U.S. and in Germany on the versatility of the actors who were able to provide in every episode in several songs and their musical talent. A total of four records with music from films and series have been published.

Since 1 November 2005, Sony Pictures Entertainment has released in the U.S., the first season of the TV series with Region Code 1 DVD. This is now out of print, as the rights to the series at 20th Century Fox are gone. 20th Century Fox released in 2009 the first two seasons with region code 1 and 2
