Fantasy Productions

Fantasy Productions ( FanPro ) was a publisher in Erkrath. The company was founded in 1983 by Werner Fuchs, Ulrich Kiesow and Hans -Joachim Alpers. Focus of the publishing house was the fantastic genre.

History

In the late 1980s Fantasy Productions produced for Schmidt Spiele under the auspices of system - inventor Kiesow the substance of the role-playing game Das Schwarze Auge (DSA). There were also several systems that have been translated under license from American publishers for the German market. Was a particularly close collaboration with the American company FASA, the three systems Classic Battletech, Shadowrun and Earthdawn FanPro brought to the German market. Thus, the publisher has grown into one of the largest publishers of games of the fantasy genre in Germany.

Following the bankruptcy of Schmidt DSA was performed completely in 1997 by FanPro on. After the dissolution of the American company FASA (2001) were also taken over the English-speaking licenses for the systems Classic Battletech and Shadowrun from there.

2004 were permanently employed by the publisher 12 people. There were still free - and part-time writers.

2007 First, the distribution of publishing products to Ulisses Games was outsourced. Later, the license for the RPG DSA moved to this publisher, the editor responsible exchanged there. Within a short time the other RPG licenses of FanPro were abandoned. Since then, the publisher was limited to its book division.

2012, the company was dissolved.
