Fanuc K. K. (Japaneseファナック 株式会社, Fanakku Kabushiki - gaisha, Eng. Fanuc, Ltd.. ) is a Japanese electronics and engineering company. The company's headquarters is located in Oshino in Yamanashi prefecture on a plateau at the foot of Mount Fuji. The name is an abbreviation of Factory Automation Numerical Control.

The company manufactures industrial robots, injection molding machines, wire cutting machines, milling machines, machine tools for nano- machining and carbon dioxide laser. It is mainly active in the field of robotics, CNC controls and servo motors and associated drive.

History

The company began in 1956 under the direction of Seiuemon Inaba as a subdivision of Fujitsu with the development of NC controls. The company was founded in 1972 under the name of Fujitsu Fanuc Ltd.. carved out of the Fujitsu Group and 1982 in Fanuc Ltd.. renamed.

1974 developed and installed the first industrial robot Fanuc in Japan. 1977 Fanuc USA Corporation was founded in 2013 and renamed in Fanuc America Corporation. 1978 saw the establishment of the Fanuc Europe S. A. and in 2012 renamed Fanuc Europe Corporation.

1984 developed and produced the first fully electric plastic injection molding machine Fanuc in Japan under the name Fanuc Roboshot. In 1986, the first startup of a machine of this type in Europe. Between 2003 and 2007, the company established the world ten other subsidiaries, such as in Vietnam and Russia.

In 2010 the company produced the ten millionth servo motor. Fanuc, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Nikkei 225, ISIN JP3802400006 is currently conducted (February 2014) by Yoshiharu Inaba and scored in the marketing year 2013 with a turnover of 498.4 billion yen net profit of 120.48 billion yen.

The company employs 4560 staff at the main house as well as 1900 in subsidiaries and associated companies. The English took over the company in 2011 Forbes magazine in its list of the 100 most innovative companies; currently (as of February 2014) is performed on rank 26 Fanuc.

A subsidiary Fanuc's in North America is the Fanuc America Corporation, headquartered in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and in Europe the Fanuc Europe Corporation, headquartered in Luxembourg. More Fanuc companies in East Asia and South Asia are partly operated as a joint venture with local companies. Worldwide, there are 210 locations in 41 countries.

Commitment

In 1989 the company established the foundation Fanuc FA & Robot Foundation, whose focus is on the development of automation technologies for machine tools, machine tools and robots. Financed by a fund and annual donations from Fanuc, the foundation awards scholarships and supports research projects that further the progress in automation technology.
