Faraid Head

Faraid Head (Scottish Gaelic An Fharaird ) is a small, about 2 ½ -kilometer long peninsula on the north coast of Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands. It is located three kilometers north of the hamlet of something Balnakeil at Durness.

At the headland of a small military radar station was built in the 1950s. The building is now used as a control tower for the air -to-ground firing ranges at Cape Wrath and Garvie Iceland.

In Faraid Head are the largest sand dunes in the British Isles.
