Cape Wrath

Cape Wrath ( Scottish Gaelic: Am Parbh, An Carbh in Lewis) is a cape in Sutherland, Highland, in northern Scotland. The Cape is the most north-western point of the island of Great Britain dar.

The cape can either be reached on foot from the south or the passenger ferry from Keoldale at Durness Kyle of Durness from across the, whereby the last part on foot, by bike or put a minibus needs in the second variant. The journey to the lighthouse of nearly 18 kilometers takes the visitor through a lonely and virtually uninhabited region. The area is used by the Royal Air Force as a training area for bombing, so the trip to the Cape is prohibited at certain times of the year. At the Cape itself is a lighthouse, which was built in 1828 by Robert Stevenson and was manned until 1998. Next, there are the ruins of the Lloyd's signal station, which was used to monitor the shipping.

Cape Wrath is the end point of the hiking trail Cape Wrath Trail, which begins in Fort William.

About 6.5 kilometers away are the cliffs of Clò Mór, the highest seaside cliffs of the mainland UK.

Cape Wrath is one of only two places in the UK that carry the " Cape " in the name; the other is Cape Cornwall in Cornwall.
