Farhat Bengdara

Farhat Omar Bengdara (Arabic فرحاتعمربنقداره ) ( born September 27, 1965 in Benghazi ) is a Libyan politician and banker and currently Governor of the Central Bank of Libya ( CBL).

Bengdara has a B. A. in economics at the University of Garyounis in Benghazi and a Masters in Money, Banking and Finance at the University of Sheffield in Sheffield. He was early on served as Vice Governor of the CBL, was chairman and chief executive of the Public Furniture Company and Vice Chairman of Wahda Bank.

Bengdara since 2001, a director of the Arab Banking Corporation ( ABC). He has 18 years of experience in banking and other business fields. He is also Deputy Chairman of the ABC in Egypt and Chairman of ABC International Bank plc in London. He is also a board member of the Libyan Investment Authority, the Libyan sovereign wealth funds.
