Faridabad (Hindi: फ़रीदाबाद Farīdābād ) is the largest city of the Indian state of Haryana with 1.4 million inhabitants ( 2011 census ). It is a satellite city of Delhi metropolis, located just 30 kilometers south of the center of Delhi. Faridabad is the administrative seat of the district of Faridabad.

Faridabad is an industrial town; inter alia be produced refrigerators, shoes, motorcycles, auto parts and tractors.

The city was founded in 1607 by Sheikh Farid, treasurer of Jahangir, to protect the leading road through the area. At that time, a fort, a pool and a mosque were built, which now exist only as ruins.

In Faridabad, there is also an SOS Children's Village.
