Farmer Boys (Band)

Farmer Boys is a metal band from Stuttgart, which was founded in 1994 by Matthias Sayer, Dennis Hummel, Alexander Scholpp, Till Hartmann and Ralf Botzenhart.

Music style

Their music is distinguished by the complexity. Gentle, some fast pop tunes alternate with brutal guitar riffs. The preference for the sound of the 1980s is reflected in the later albums in Sayers vocal melodies resist.

Biography

The Farmer Boys take their name from an old classmate Sayers and Hummels nicknamed " Schorsch ", which originates from rural conditions. To support and to a certain running gag - - In line with this, the pair wrote a song entitled "Farmers Power", which laid the foundation for the creation of this band.

The album also includes a cover of Depeche Mode ( Never Let Me Down Again) by Anneke van Giersbergen. Scholpp played on the album with Dropped A mood.

On the 1997 album released Till The Cows Come Home a stronger urge to thrash metal is visible. The guitar riffs were more pronounced and developed in this direction. The texts Sayers continue to treat most of the subject area and farm animals. The title Boar takes Orwell's Animal Farm reference again. The booklet of the CD shows an American Farmer with a stuffed two-headed calf that was born a few years after a reactor accident in the vicinity of the farm. Scholpp tuned his guitar on this album still a semitone lower than on the previous album.

1999 started the recording of their third album The World Is Ours. It took over the recordings instead of a replacement bassist role: Ralf Botzenhart gave his place on the band. He was replaced by Antonio Ieva, the title The Good Life and A New Breed Of Evil grossed as his debut. In August 2000, the album enjoyed access to the general public. Based on their time specified style to convince the individual songs by cleverly balanced concoctions and change of music elements. The vocal melodies was ascribed to a stylistic proximity to the music from the 1980s. The keyboard Dennis Hummel's got a more central role than and carry on the previous albums. 2002 Matthias Sayer appeared as a guest singer of the Finnish band Apocalyptica on their single Hope Vol.2 in appearance.

In January 2004, the Farmer Boys released their latest work, The Other Side. Stylistically, it follows on seamlessly from its predecessor. The premiere was followed as before some festival appearances. Since then it 's been pretty quiet around the Farmer Boys. Till Hartmann today operates a tattoo parlor, Alexander Scholpp and Ralf Bolzano hard play together today in the band Dacia & The Weapons of Mass Destruction. In addition, Alexander Scholpp, who founded a guitar school in Stuttgart to hear still guitarist of the metal band low loader Stuttgart and since 2007 on the solo album My Winter Storm by Tarja Turunen and active as their touring guitarist. Antonio Ieva has also found a new place for himself in the band Brainstorm. Matthias Sayer pursued after studying audiovisual media at the Stuttgart Media University postgraduate studies in the U.S. and has worked as a film composer. Together with Dennis Hummel, he works on the manufacturer Secrets electropop project. An official statement on liquidation of the Farmer Boys was present at any time.

On 22 December 2008 took place in Stuttgart club The tube a concert of Farmer Boys under the motto "home game reloaded" instead. On October 11, 2010, the last album The Other Side of the Polish record label Metal Mind Productions, with three songs and a video as bonus material, re-released. 20 August 2011 Farmer Boys were at the Summer Breeze Festival in 2011.
