Fatih Avan (born 1 January 1989 Andirin ) is a Turkish athlete who specializes in the javelin throw. He starts for the Athletics department of Fenerbahçe SK.

Career

Avan was third at the 2009 Winter Throwing Cup in Los Realejos and won at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara, but missed at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin a place in the final.

The international breakthrough came in 2011. He won the Cup Winter Throwing in Sofia in the age group U23. In the U23 European Athletics Championships in Ostrava, he finished behind the Germans Till Wöschler second place, at the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, he won the gold medal. After he had reached the fifth place at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu, he increased the Turkish javelin record at the Memorial Van Damme to 84.79 m. It was the fourth national record for him this season.

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 and at the World Championships 2013 in Moscow, he could not each qualify for the finals themselves.
