2011 European Athletics U23 Championships

The 8th U23 European Athletics Championships were held from 14 to July 17, 2011 stadium in Mestsky ( to German: municipal stadium) in the district of Vitkovice in the Czech city of Ostrava instead. As host of the IAAF World Youth Championships in 2007 and the annual athletics meeting Golden Spike Ostrava was known previously as the host of major international events.

949 athletes from 42 countries were at the start.

Medals were awarded in 44 contests, 22 each for men and women. The disciplines were the same as in European Athletics Championships in the main class. However, it lacked the marathon for men and women as well as the 50 km walk for men.
