Jan Felix Knobel

January Felix Knobel ( born January 16, 1989 in Bad Homburg, Germany ) is a German decathlete.

At the Junior World Championships 2008 in Bydgoszcz, he won with 7896 points title in the decathlon. In the final bill, his lead was only two points of second-placed Belarusians Eduard Michan.

At the German all-around Championships 2009 Knobel took part in the adult class, although he would have been entitled to start with the juniors, and secured with 7738 points to win.

Knobel personal best is 8288 points, which he reached end of May 2011 at the International Meeting in Götzis. Shortly thereafter, he started as one of the favorites at the U23 European Championships 2011 in Ostrava. After a fall in the 110- meter hurdles he had to bury all medal hopes, however. He did not finish even the final 1500 -meter run and ended up with 6774 points in 19th place. At the World Championships in Daegu, he reached the eighth place with 8200 points.

2012 Knobel was the more battle - Meeting Ratingen with 8228 first runner-up, the original winner Larbi Bouraada but was later disqualified. At the Olympic Games in London Knobel had to retire injured.

January Felix Knobel starts since 2005 for the Athletics Department of Eintracht Frankfurt and is coached by Jürgen Sammert. He studied architecture at the Hochschule Rhein Main, Wiesbaden.
