FC Etzella Ettelbruck

The Football Club Etzella Ettelbrück, better known by the abbreviations FC Etzella or Etzella Ettelbrück, is a Luxembourgian football club from Ettelbrück.

History

The club was founded on May 21, 1917 had in 1940, renaming during the occupation by Germany, in football club Ettelbrück. 1944 received the association back to the original name. The first big success of the club's history was the rise in the National Division in 1971. Thirty years later, in 2001, the victory in the Luxembourg Cup.

The National Cup victory had a first appearance on the international stage result. 2001/ 02 the club played in the UEFA Cup. There, however, would retire after two defeats against Legia Warsaw already in the qualification. In the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2008 the club surprisingly succeeded in moving into the second round. After two draws against the Georgian representatives Locomotive Tbilisi Etzella came forth because of the away goals. In the following round, the Luxembourg to the Russian club Saturn Ramenskoje brave in his home again draw from, but had for a significant first-leg defeat no chance to reach the third round.

Since 1981 the home games of the association at the Stade be held on the dike.
