FC Merkuur Tartu

Jalgpalliklubi Maag Tartu was an Estonian football club based in Tartu. The club colors were red and blue.

History

In 1987, the club was founded as Leivakimbonaat Tartu. From 1990, the club participated in the Estonian championship as JK Merkuur Tartu.

In the first independent Championship 1992, the club escaped relegation only through the away goals rule, because in the relegation matches against Kreenholm Narva was a 3-3 draw away after a 1-1 draw in front of a home crowd.

After the league was still managed in the following year, the club finished at the end of season 1993/ 94 with the tenth place into the relegation zone. The 1994/95 season was unsuccessful, the club was passed on to the third tier. As a third in the southern third league, the club missed the direct resurgence. In the season 1996 /97 league title succeeded in climbing competition and thus a return to the second division.

In the autumn 1998 season, which was carried out on a course of the season due to the transition within the calendar year, the club finished at the end of the penultimate place and had to go back. After the immediate back in the Bundesliga, the team reached the 2000 season, the play-offs and won there in the league. In the following years reach midfield squares, before the club in 2004 the license of Levadia Tallinn took over and in the Meistriliiga, the first division of Estonia started. In the first season managed to finish sixth. In 2006 it was renamed the JK Maag Tartu, the club finished the championship in fifth place.

After the 2006 season, and JK Maag Tammeka Tartu JK Maag joined forces to Tammeka Tartu.

Stadium

Maag Tartu wore its home games as well as Tammeka Tartu Tamme from the Staadion. The multi-purpose stadium has a capacity of 1,000 seats.
