FC Vilnius

The FC Vilnius was a Lithuanian football club from the capital Vilnius. The club colors were red and white.

History

The club was founded on 4 January 2001 under the name FK Sviesa Vilnius and entered first time in 2002 in the second division, where at first the fourth place in the table has been reached. As the runner- Polonija Vilnius ( farm team of Zalgiris Vilnius) and third Jėgeriai Kaunas were not climb right ( farm team FBK Kaunas), the team came against second-bottom of the A Lyga, Gelezinis Vilkas Vilnius, in the relegation games. A 1-0 home success was followed by a 1:2 away defeat, which meant that according to the away goals rule, the rise could be celebrated.

In the first Erstligasaison the club reached the last place, but who moved no more Play off by itself. In 2004 it was renamed FC Vilnius. Under the new name the team finished the 2004 season repelled at the end of the table, since the league but was expanded from eight to ten teams, the club was top notch.

2005 achieved a fifth place, the best result in their history, a year later, the team finished seventh.

After relegation from the Premier League in the 2007 season, one was in the second class 1 Lyga in the following year eights. Following the season the matches in professional football has been set.
