Federation of International Bandy

The Federation of International Bandy (FIB ) is the international association in Bandysport. The association was founded in 1955 in Sweden Katrine Holm by representatives of Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Soviet Union.

From 1957 to 2001 was called the Association of International Bandy Federation (IBF ) as this but also the abbreviation of the other sports associations was, the IOC asked the name of the Bandy World Union in FIB to change.

The first World Championship was held in Helsinki in 1957. Meanwhile, the World Championships are held annually. A world championship for women have been around since 2004.

President of the FIB is the Russian Boris Skrynnik, first vice president of the Swede Seppo Vaihela.

List of Members

27 national associations currently belong to the FIB (as of February 2009). In addition to the four founding members, Finland, Norway, the Soviet Union and Sweden before the 1990s, the Netherlands (1973 ), the USA (1981 ), Canada ( 1986) and Hungary ( 1988) IBF members.
