Ferdinand Cattini

Ferdinand " Pic " Cattini ( born September 27, 1916 in Grono, † August 17, 1969 in Davos ) was a Swiss ice hockey player. His brother Hans Cattini was also Swiss national team.

Career

At club level played Ferdinand Cattini, who was called due to his small stature usually " Picolo " or " Pic " for HC Davos. There he formed with his brother Hans Cattini and Richard Torriani the so-called « ni » - storm, which was more than ten years of extremely successful. With the HC Davos, the three players won 15 Swiss league title.

Ferdinand Cattini took part for the Swiss national team at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch -Partenkirchen and 1948 in St. Moritz. With his team, he won the bronze medal at the Winter Games in 1948. At the European Championships in 1932 and the World Cup 1937 he won the bronze at the World Cup 1935, the silver medal with his team. As the best team in Europe, Switzerland was at the 1935 World Cup also European champion.

In 1998 he was honored with induction into the IIHF Hall of Fame. Since 2010, one of the two preliminary round groups of the Spengler Cup is named after him and his brother Hans.
