Ferdinand von Alten

Ferdinand von Alten, Theo von Alten ( born April 13, 1885 in Saint Petersburg, † March 16, 1933 in Dessau; native Baron of Lamezan on Altenhofen ) was a German actor.

Life

He first hit as his ancestors a military career and became an officer, but then took acting classes with Albert Steinrück and opted for the acting profession. In 1911 he made ​​his debut at the court theater in Munich, where he worked until the end of the First World War.

Since 1918 he appeared at the Berlin stage, particularly at the Deutsches Theater, where he was part of the ensemble during the twenties. Soon he came to the silent film and was often occupied by medium and small roles. He embodied elegant lover, officers and supervisors.

Ferdinand von Alten died aged less than 48 years of pleura and lung inflammation, which he had contracted during a theater tour and was buried in the St. Matthias Cemetery in Berlin.
