Ferdinand von Rosenzweig

Baron Ferdinand Rosenzweig of Drauwehr ( born July 11, 1812 in Eisenstadt, † September 4, 1892 ) was an Austrian field -marshal.

Life

Rosenzweig came from a baronial family with a military tradition. He attended elementary school in Klagenfurt. After training at the cadet school in Graz, he joined on October 28, 1835 the Austrian Volunteer Corps. After several military operations Rosenzweig was promoted to lieutenant colonel and was in this capacity the 77th Regiment. After Maximilian I, the brother of the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I, in Mexico came to power, Rosenzweig moved to Mexico, serving from July 20, 1864 the Emperor in the 16th Regiment of the Austrian Volunteer Corps in Mexico as a major. Here he married a Hungarian princess Catarina de Radzivil Atavia, maid of honor the Mexican imperial court; their daughter Emanuela was born on 30 August 1866. After the end of the reign of Maximilian Rosenzweig returned to Austria, where he again served the Austrian army. On 3 June 1865 he was promoted to Major General and Lieutenant-General on 30 April 1870. On April 14, 1879, effective May 1, he was finally promoted by Francis I. with the title and character in the office of Feldzeugmeister.
