Ferdinando Paer

Ferdinando Paër ( born July 1, 1771 in Parma, † May 3, 1839 in Paris) was an Italian composer of Austrian descent.

Life

Ferdinando Paër first studied in his hometown at Gian Francesco Fortunati, before starting his studies at the "Conservatorio della Pietà de Turchini " continued in Naples. He debuted in 1789 with the comic opera La locanda de ' Vagabondi, 1791, he was theater conductor in Venice in 1797 he practiced that activity from Vienna. From 1802 to 1806 he was Kapellmeister at Moret tables Opera House in Dresden, 1812-1827 conductor at the Italian opera in Paris. Since 1831 was a member of the Académie des Beaux -Arts, 1832 Kapellmeister of the local Royal Chapel. Paër wrote about 44 operas, which were very successful and famous during his lifetime, but fell into oblivion after his death; also oratorios, cantatas, vocal works, piano pieces, among others

Paër was among others Franz Liszt's teacher in Paris, which also helped him in refining his 1824 opera Don Sanche incurred up to 1825 ou le château d' amour.
