Fernando Sylvan

Fernando Sylvan was the pseudonym of Abílio Leopoldo Motta - Ferreira ( born August 26, 1917 in Dili, Portuguese Timor, † December 25, 1993 in Cascais, Portugal ), a Portuguese-speaking poet and author, who hails from East Timor.

Sylvan lived most of his life in Portugal, where he was also president of the Instituto Camões, the Institute for Portuguese language. In the Portuguese exile, he fought for the independence of his homeland occupied by Indonesia. In particular, he dealt with the legends of East Timor, which he brought out a collection.
