Ferocactus emoryi is a species of the genus Ferocactus in the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). English common names are " Emory 's Barrel Cactus " and "Traveller 's Friend ".

Description

Ferocactus emoryi grows individually with spherical to cylindrical, bright green to Glauk - green shoots and reaches diameters of 1 meter stature heights of up to 2.5 meters. There are 15 to 30, sometimes more, ribs present, which are clearly tuberculate in the adolescent stage. The spines are whitish to reddish. The single, very strong central spine is flattened, straight, curved or hooked, and is 4-10 inches long. The seven to nine spines reach a length of up to 6 inches.
